716 Playlists – Russ Gabriel Playlist

28.10.15 - Guillaume

Russ Gabriel est un ancien dont le son évolue entre deepness mélodique et sons plus raw, toujours là après bientôt 20 ans de carrière.

Russ Gabriel is one of the original old school producers, his music oscillates between deep melodic techno and more funky house beats, and he is still in the game after approximatively 20 years.

His next releases will be on the Ferox label, under the alias Too Funk then on the Belgian label « We Play House« .
On his soundcloud, you’ll find mostly the archives of the radio show « RT-Transmissions » he co-hosts with Hans Thalau.

1) A Tribe Called Quest – People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm
I always seem to come back to this album every summer.

2) Luke Slater’s 7th Plain* – The 4 Cornered Room
This is possibly the most emotional piece of electronica ever.

3) Pink Floyd – The Dark Side Of The Moon
So many aspects of this are just perfect. Always seems to be used as a reference for production.

4) Dan Curtin – Silicon Dawn
I remember hearing this for the first time and realising that techno was entering a new era.

5) Stevie Wonder – Music Of My Mind
Moogtastic!

6) Beastie Boys – Licensed To Ill
Just listen to see why we should all use more 808. The most energetic album i own too.

7) Marvin Gaye – I Want You
Nothing needs to be said.

8) Berger / Hodge / Moufang / Ruit – Conjoint
Moufang’ best work in my opinion. I think i must have sold 50 of these on recommendation.

9) Miles Davis – In A Silent Way
I can just imagine his meeting with the record company… »Herbie on keys…oh, i think i need chic as well….er…did i mention i think you should pay for Joe Zawinul in case we need a bit more? »

10) Bill Evans – Symbiosis
A genius journey from start to finish
