Il y a plein de piscines géothermales dans la région de Rotorua, certaines se positionnant comme chic ou touristiques. Le gros avantage des Waikite Hot Pools c’est que son prix avantageux et son ambiance familiale en font un vrai lieu de rencontre sociale, un point pas toujours évident en NZ : ici Maori, Kiwi non Maori, touristes asiatiques, principalement chinois et japonais, et européens se retrouvent gaiement et sans souci dans un même lieu. Cela renforce l’authenticité de l’expérience.
Le package de 3h était très bien. Il y a un petit sentier qui permet de sortir de l’espace des différents bassins et de s’isoler pour aller voir les sources d’eau de Manara.

While you are here, I hope the weather is kind enough to let you check out Te Manaroa Spring, this is the largest source of natural boiling water in New Zealand, we then cool this water over a series of cascades which then feeds the pools separately to achieve temperature differences between our pools. This small 5-minute bush walk is included in with pool admissions. Our pools are also drained every night and refilled fresh every day. »
