716 Sélections – Bucharest Tips Selection

24.12.13 - Guillaume - 716lavie
While I was preparing my trip to Bucarest, I have found this website Bucharest Tips which is a gret source of infos : an alternative guide that is based on recommendations by locals. You choose your thematic (Events, Food, Day, Night, etc…) then the lifestyle that suits you (safe and cozy, intellectual, experimentalist, …) and then you get some insider tips from people living in Bucarest, whom you can check the detailed profile.
George from Bucharest Tips gives his 5 best Events and Restaurants tips!

Hottest 5 Event Venues in Bucharest

1) Control
4 Constantin Mille St.,
Bucharest
le site
Control club is the first alternative concerts venue in Bucharest. In 2013 the club relocated to new premises, including a pub area, a terrace and a concert venue. The setting is also recently refurbished, being now more comfortable and spacious in the pub area. Every night there is a DJ for at least one room or even a themed party. This year Control introduced “Brutus!” for Tuesday nights, which translates to drinking half price after 10 pm; usually a newcomer band also plays on Tuesdays, mostly alternative, indie-pop, electro. Concerts they already announced for 2014: dan le sac vs Scroobius Pip live and Michael Gira (Swans) solo.

2) Eden
107 Calea Victoriei
Bucharest
le site
Very fresh, the newest hot place in town, already gathering crowds! Situated in the basement of Stirbey Palace on Calea Victoriei St. (which is downtown Bucharest), the place has nothing to do with the glamour associated with the word “palace”. Actually it is an underground club looking like a cellar, including two rooms, where parties get quite hot! It is nice you can switch from one room to another, also changing the music vibes, from underground electronic to nu disco and experiments (Romanian music from the 80s-90s, Roma concert etc.). In summer, a wild garden pops right in the middle of Bucharest (it’s Eden, too). Definitely a place to stay tuned to. Kreidler live announced for 2014.

3) Fabrica
50 11 Iunie St.
Bucharest
le site
Cool venue for skate-style, punks and metals. Located in a former industrial building (Fabrica means Factory), Fabrica usually hosts several concerts per week (from punk, metal, alternative to hip-hop). Music and urban culture festivals also take place regularly at Fabrica. Concert venue with post-industrial look, chill pub, skate park, climbing room, huge terrace and even some shops, a place for young and creative non-conformists.

4) Green Hours
120 Calea Victoriei
Bucharest
le site
Already an institution, Green Hours is THE jazz club in Bucharest. Jazz, blues, electric, alternative music nights, theatre shows, either on the green terrace or in the basement. The atmosphere recreates the feeling of the BEAT nights, when music and poetry made it all happen. Since 2008, Green Hours has initiated the first and only international festival in a Romanian club: Green Hours

5) International Jazz Fest.
Colectiv
7 Tăbăcarilor St.
Bucharest
Former sneakers factory reconverted to event venue for contemporary urban happenings: music and arts and not at least parties. Romanian alternative bands, electro sets, underground hip-hop. Take you artsy look; you do not go there just for clubbing!
