A break we could only dream of: bucolic, well maintained, and it’s in the Kernavé village,an important place for Lithuanian culture: it was the Grand-duchy of Lithuania’s first known capital. It’s also an important archaeological site, listed as a Unesco’s world heritage site.
It seems like it’s been there for a long time, it blends in the setting. In the summer, there’s a large patio that welcomes us with open arms.
There’s a nice grilling stall, where a specialist takes care of the shachlik.
That day there were young ladies taking care of service, they were pleasant and paid attention.
There was a Šašlykas grilling stall, which are pork skewers cooked on embers.
The person with me opted for some bulviniai blynai, potato pancakes. Perfect.
As for me, I chose some Naminiai Koldunai: meat ravioli, cooked in butter and cream.
D-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s, tastes like home cooking, mmmmm.
Served at lunch or dinner, they can come with different sauces, crème fraîche, butter, or mushroom ( less common). There also exists a variation of this dish, with a blueberry stuffing, but usually it isn’t served in restaurants, it’s more a personal interpretation that’s made at home.
