Pagoja – Anykščiai (Lithuania) en

If you go for a walk around the Rubikiai lake in the north east of Lithuania , you’ll pass by Anykščiai, in which there are very few restaurants, but there is this Pagoja right at the city’s exit, which is very popular: It’s simple homemade food without anything crazy, I have to say it’s very pleasant, and useful.
The restaurant
Anykščiai is special because it’s home to Lithuania’s tallest church, but mostly because of its Museum of horses: interesting and nice for kids because there are lots of presentations around life in the countryside, but there is no English translation.
Pretty nice, there was a waitress that spoke really good English and that was pretty nice.
Kepsnys Pagoja
The house specialty : stuffed chicken cutlet with dried tomatoes and feta, served with a cranberry sauce, fried potatoes and vegetables.
The chicken itself was delicious, everything that’s for the most part missing in France, a good piece of chicken, that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.
Crepes
A perfect pit-stop when on the road, or if you’re staying in the area and need to grab a bite to eat. I wouldn’t make it my daily hangout , but its practical and pleasant, even just to drink a good Lithuanian beer with a couple “užkandžiai prie alaus”, the tapas or snacks that come with the beer.
