The lakefront restaurant as we’ve always imagined it: very few people, a bucolic atmosphere , the possibility of renting paddle boats, a bar/restaurant right on the “beach” with a large choice of beers, shall I continue?
All of this on one of Lithuania’s biggest lakes, a country known for its hundreds of lakes, lake Runikiu or Rubikai.
To not seem so biased, I saw a variety of people there good and bad ( happy families, but also drunk people, nothing bad though). It reminded me of those Corsican straw huts, like Pirate at Capo di Feno, even if the context is different: the kind of beach you like to laze around for an afternoon, sharing your time between the bar/restaurant, swimming and sun tanning.
There were some young servers that were nice and professional, as for responsible, the answer varies.
I went there more than once, first there’s a good choice of Lithuanian beers, let’s not forget that Lithuania is a big beer country.
Then, this smoked fish and cheese plate that gives a great picture, was actually disappointing.
Saltubarsciai, the cold beet soup, was well done, but let’s be honest, it’s good everywhere in Lithuania.
The real hit was the schashlik, the marinated pork skewer, done the way it should be, served with house fries : 10/10.
Žuvienės Pašiūrė on the Rubikiu ( or Rubikiai) lake, unforgettable.
