A coffee shop like you can find so many others in each  European city, here Dvorak then Vaclav Havel came to meet up; except that the difference between this establishment and countless others where the prices are ridiculously high, the staff arrogant and the crowd is a mix of old people and tourists, people keep coming back here. It was recommended in the Cartoville, but there were also many young people that recommended it to me as well.

The coffee shop is on the waterfront of the river and facing the Opera. The location is superb, big volume and Art Déco style. Careful, the spots by the Vlatva river are rare and there was a piano bar the night I went: the closer you are to the river, the more you hear it.

Their strong point: the Czechs are not renowned for their customer service, they say it themselves: the rigidity of the communist regime didn’t train for that. It isn’t the case here, the servers might not be in their 20s but they are certainly very nice nontheless. The two that we had that night were polite, nice, and very present.

- Le repas -

In the Czech Republic, beer is cheaper than water ( pint is 1 euro) and curiously, even though the water is drinkable, there is a cost to get some in restaurants. There are very few restaurants that will accept to serve you tap water, and that is very very annoying.
So between the beer that we’re downing and the traditional Czech cuisine in which the basic ingredients are meat, cream, and bread raviolis, a fresh salad would definitely not hurt.
The waiter started directing me towards a ham salad, I wasn’t really feeling it, when I asked: ” but for you, which one do you truly prefer?” He pointed to the Greek salad.
No comment  needed, right? She’s superb!

The bill is good: one dish+one salad+ one cocktail+one beer+ water: 20 euros.
Lots also come for the coffee but you can also sit down and have something to eat.
