Wroclaw’s Contemporary Art Museum – Wroclaw (Poland) en

Wroclaw is a city in which you can take your time. So why not go take a look at the city’s Contemporary Art Museum, and stroll.

I liked the fact that there was this real cultural initiative, when I went for example, there was an exhibition on gypsies, a delicate subject in many Eastern European countries. The exhibition was well done, original and didactic. However, I went there on a weekday afternoon, and there wasn’t anyone there. One of the students working in the museum confided that you were hard pressed to find any visitors sometimes. But, a few days before I arrived it was Museum Night, and there were tons of people.

So it’s a place where the number of visitors vary, but it stays quiet overall.

The building in itself is interesting , but the museum will be moving into another, much larger building soon.

The other nice thing is that there’s a coffee shop on the roof, and when it’s nice outside, it’s great spending some time on the patio.

I liked the museum, because as I’ve previously mentioned, Wroclaw showcases a real cultural exploration, the spaces aren’t crowded with people, but at the same time, you can see all there is to see, you have the time to reflect and you can say: ” you know what, I’m going to go check this out today, because I haven’t seen it yet”.

And what’s more, as imperfect as this museum is ( it’s sad that some of the student workers didn’t seem very interested ), it does hold a discourse. There is a young staff that wants to do something interesting and innovative, and you can tell, I really liked that.
