716 Exclusive Mix – Guizo Zykey : Underground Afro Club

Guizo Zykey is passionated with African music. He brought back from his 1st trip to Africa in Senegal in 2001, local cd’s and K7. He started to buy vinyls in 1992 but he began collecting Afro records in 2006, digging in Africa in 2011 (Benin, Senegal, Ivory Coast). He has been the first in Paris to have a stand entirely dedicated to African records on Parisian garage sales. In 2016 he creates the record label Nubiphone with his friend, the digger Armand de Préseau. Their first release out in spring 2017 is the 1st compilation dedicated to the Cameroonese artist Eko Roosevelt, they are working on a new project for the end of 2017.

Guizo Zykey est passionné de musiques africaines. De son 1er voyage en Afrique, au Sénégal, en 2001, il rapporte CD’s et K7 locales. Acheteur de vinyles depuis 1992, il commence sa collection Afro en 2006 et commence a digger en Afrique en 2011 (Bénin, Sénégal, Côte d’Ivoire). Il sera le premier à Paris en vide-greniers à proposer un stand 100% Afro. En 2016, Il fonde le label Nubiphone avec son ami digger Armand de Préseau, leur première sortie est la 1ère compilation dédiée à l’artiste camerounais Eko Roosevelt au printemps 2017 et ils préparent un nouveau projet pour cette fin d’année.

Guizo called his mix Underground Afro Club because 1) he wanted to show that you can still amazing African records that don’t cost a fortune, there is no need to buy a record for hundred boxes to make a good set. There are tons of misknown gems that are cheap, it’s before all a matter of time you are ready to spend to dig and to find the good tracks 2) the African music played in club is not the most valued today and it’s a pity. The result : a dancing selection, genuine and groovy, soulful and moving.

Guizo a intitulé ce mix Underground Afro Club car 1) il voulait montrer qu’on pouvait faire des mixes qui défoncent sans forcément dépenser des centaines de dollars pour des disques africains surcotés, il y a quantité de perles méconnues et à bas prix. C’est juste une question de temps passer à les écouter, afin de repérer les disques et les bons morceaux qui s’y cachent  2) la musique africaine dansante, celle jouée en club, n’est pas la plus mise en valeur aujourd’hui et c’est dommage. Le résultat : un mix super dansant et authentique, touchant.
