- Le résumé -

The coffee shop had only been open for two months when I went. I want to mention that I was invited for a lunch by the owner after I had a meeting with the city’s tourism office. I found that the prices were very honest, the ingredients were local, all this two steps away from the train station, very useful when travelling. Some locals thought that the overall quality had gone down from when it opened and saw it more as an average lunch spot rather than a place to go for dinner.

So it’s two steps away from the train station, and I think the inside is well done, everything is wooden. It was nice that day, so I was on the patio at the back. IMG_4546

One of the two partners welcomed me, very friendly, her heart was definitely into making this place a great one.

There’s a lunch menu, otherwise they sell pizzas that are pretty popular, and a coffee menu.

I took the “summer pumpkin” soup, I must admit I’d never heard of it before. I was surprised by the light green color of the soup since it was a pumpkin soup, but she told me that it was normal, it’s the color of the summer pumpkin.

The pizza was nice, and I appreciated the oranges in the water, done as per usual in Estonia.

That soup was divine, and the presentation was also well done.

To follow, a salad, since the soup was pretty hearty I asked the lady to choose a light salad she liked for me: salmon, half dried tomatoes, egg. 4.50 euros.

How to explain? All the ingredients were very good, I appreciated the vinaigrette with the salad, I felt really good after having eaten it, but the dressing, and therefore the taste, seemed a little simple, like I could have made the salad at home, without too much difficulty.

The orange and carrot juice I drank with it was impeccable.

- Le bilan -

A sturdy espresso to end the meal, you can’t get that anywhere in Estonia.

The verdict?

A useful spot to know about, reasonable and honest, but there’s that magic missing, that little something that will make people come again and again, if I follow my friends in Viljandi’s opinions.

However, I maintain that this is a very good place.
