1) Hot Chocolate – Cadillac (The Revenge edit)
Never fails to get the crowd off – brilliant from start to end. Love Graeme’s work, but this one is outstanding. Played this almost everywhere this year, massive for me. Heaven’s in the backseat of my….

Celui-là fait bouger les foules à chaque fois : il est bon de A à Z. J’aime le travail de Graeme mais ce morceau est particulièrement bluffant. Je l’ai joué quasiment partout cette année, c’est un tube pour moi.

2) Chaim – Love Rehab

Bit of a techier selection here – not my usual style but such a moody track can’t help but dig it. Got a lot of cool elements in there – it just really appeals to me.

C’est un peu plus techno pour le coup – ce qui n’est pas mon style de prédilection mais tu ne peux pas passer à côté d’un morceau avec une telle atmosphère.

3) Mario Basanov & Vidis Feat. Jazzu – I’ll be gone

Sexy mid tempo deepness. So well produced, easy to listen to over and over – full marks on the visual treat they’ve teamed it up with. Mario is a top flight producer and this is just one of many jams of his that has caught my ear over the past year or so.

La puissance d’un morceau mid-tempo et sexy. Tellement bien produit, on peut l’écouter des milliers de fois. Mario est un super producteur et ce morceau est juste un parmi tant d’autres de lui qui m’ont fait kiffer cette année.

4) Jamie Jones – Say What (Ruckus EP)

Killer EP from J.J. wandering into Nu Disco territory whilst keeping it deep – clever stuff all round on this release but this is the underdog and possibly the track that I’ll still be playing in a few years time. Brand new and very hot indeed.

Un EP assassin de Jamies Jones qui explore ici la nu disco tout en gardant sa patte deep : je continuerai probablement de jouer ce morceau dans quelques années : tout récent mais déjà promis à un bel avenir.

5) Mavis Feat. Candi Staton – Revolution (Darkstarr mix)

Perfect remix from Ashley Beedle on this Mavis track – I love it, Candi loves it – rumour has it she requested the parts for use in the live performances ! Big up yourself Ashley. Crowd always seem very pleased every time I drop this one.

Le remix parfait d’Ashley Beedle sur ce titre de Mavis “I love it, Candi loves it”. La rumeur veut qu’elle aurait demandé à utiliser cette version pour ses concerts ! Bravo à toi Ashley, le public a toujours l’air de kiffer chaque fois que le joue.

6) Martin Circus – Disco Circus (Pablo Contraband edit)

Here’s one from me – stripped back edit of Martin Circus’ seminal track Disco Circus. Way ahead of it’s time, features a lot of different styles and techniques, plays like a sample fest but there were some that I just didn’t like or dated it somewhat (the jank 70’s guitar solo) so I removed these elements and focused on the breakdown and strange vocals. Ended up with a pretty minimal sounding disco track / dj tool.

Ca, c’est de moi : un edit du classique de Martin Circus. En avance sur son temps, ce titre contient un tas d’idées en termes de techniques, de styles musicaux ou même de sonorités. Mais il y avait certains sons justement que je n’aimais pas trop (comme le solo de guitare) du coup je les ai virés et je me suis concentré sur le break et les vocaux psychés. Au final ça donne un edit disco minimal et musclé.

7) Angel in my pocket – Leftside Wobble & Guy Williams

Superb track – Jocelyn Brown vocals nice edit work and a hypnotic loop and driving bassline – floor fills up every time. Lovely record. Got this a while ago before it’s release and have since caned it – fits perfectly in the more peak time sets. Check Leftside Wobble out on soundcloud, quite a few decent tracks and mixes up there.

Superbe morceau : un beau travail d’edit sur les vocaux de Jocelyn Brown et une ligne de basse hypnotique, les gens dansent à chaque fois. Checkez le travail de Leftside Wooble sur soundcloud, il y a des bons titres et des bons mixes.

8) Ignition – Secret Sunday Lover (Greg Wilson edit)

Still love this track, first heard it at Bestival 2007 in the sunshine. Met my now Wife there, and just got right into the stuff Greg Wilson played. Big day, lots of fond memories and some rock solid records.

J’aime toujours autant ce morceau. Je l’ai entendu la 1ère fois au Bestival en 2007, là où j’ai rencontré ma femme. De gros souvenirs !

9) Burnt Island Casuals – Truth & Temptation

Great tune, been opening/closing a few of my sets with this – I love it, took a few listens to really feel it, absolutely superb record. Brilliant track by Harri & The Revenge aka Burnt Island Casuals – decent flipside too Scotch Hop – re-work of the Gwen Guthrie tune Larry Levan made famous.

Un morceau superbe que je joue en début ou en fin de set. Produit par Harri & The Revenge aka Burnt Island Casuals, c’est une relecture du titre de Gwen Guthrie rendu célèbre par Larry Levan.

10) Elkie Brooks – Pearls a singer

One for the road…I just like this record – reminds me of being a kid, this album was always on whilst my Mum was doing the housework. Elkie nails the vocal.

Allez, un dernier pour la route ! J’aime ce disque car il me rappelle mon enfance, cet album était toujours en train de jouer lorsque ma mère faisait le ménage.
