J’étais au concert à Paris à l’Espace B et c’était vachement bien.As I’m about to go back to Marseille to pursue my food & culture reviews for 716, it seems to be the perfect time to publish this 716 Playlist from a local promising artist, Johnny Hawaii. Minimal psychedelic folk, lo-fi surf, some others speak about jazz, whatever…, it’s some good and deep relaxing music.
I was at their show at the Espace B in Paris and it was damn good.
1) Dinosaur Jr – Little Fury Things
Je m’y suis replongé récemment. Ce titre me donne envie de me noyer dans un océan de fuzz.
I recently re-listened to it. This track makes me wanna sink in a sea of fuzz.
2) Roj – Inhale Exhale Love
Avec mon guitariste (Oh! Tiger Mountain), on fait une fixette sur le label Ghost Box en ce moment. De très bon disques de pop collage psyché électronique.
With my guitarist (Oh! Tiger Mountain), we are obsessed with the label Ghost Box actually.
Some very good records of psycho electronic pop.
3) The Olivia Tremor Control – Marking Time
C’est un peu comme les Beatles, mais en mieux.
It’s a bit like the Beatles, but much better.
4) Petit Fantôme – Teahupoo
On a joué le mois dernier avec les Crane Angels du collectif bordelais Iceberg, dont Petit Fantôme fait partie. Son disque est vraiment réussi et ce titre envoûtant.
We’ve played last month with the Crane Angels who are part of the Iceberg collective from Bordeaux, Petit Fantôme is also part of it. This record is really nice and this track totally captivating.
5) Weezer – Tired Of Sex
Le solo de guitare le plus obscène de l’indie rock. Idéal pour le air-guitar en slip devant son miroir.
The most obscene solo guitar from indie rock. Perfect for the air-guitar in underwear in front of your mirror.
6) Laraaji – Being Here
Découvert via la compilation “I Am The Center”. L’histoire du gars est assez étonnante (mais trop longue à raconter). Idéal lorsqu’on est coincé dans un bouchon de 12 km sur l’autoroute parce qu’un camion a renversé sa cargaison d’oranges.
I have discovered this artist through the compilation “I Am The Center”. The story of the guy is quite surprising (but too long to tell here). Perfect when you’re stuck in a traffic jam of 12 kms on the highway because a truck has reversed his cargo of oranges.
7) Beck – Totally Confused
Je suis un fanatique des enregistrements de Beck pré-Loser. Je dois avoir une centaine de morceaux de l’époque. Qui dit mieux?
I am a big fan of the recordings of Beck pré-Loser. I must have one hundred of tracks of that time. What could be better?
8) The Focus Group – Spolk
Pareil que pour Roj.

9) The Flaming Lips – Everyone Wants To Live Forever
Ma période préférée des Lips. Le mélange bruit/mélodie est ce que je préfère dans la musique.
My favourite period of the Lips. The association between noise and melody is what I prefer in music.
10) The Beach Boys – The Lonely Sea
Comme quoi, on le savait dès le début que Brian Wilson était capable d’autre chose qu’envoyer des hit surf.
The proof that we knew right from the beginning that Brian Wilson was capable of doing something else than producing hit surf.
