Today it’s time for a short interview and a top playlist.

A) The Interview English Version (the french version is after the playlist)
1) How did you start Treasure and who is Treasure?
I started Treasure last summer, sampling anything I could find and then singing over the top of songs. Treasure was me, Prizes became a band.

2) Why did you change your name for Prizes ?
There was another Treasure who had existed longer than the Treasure in my imagination.

3) What’s the actuality of Prizes?
Prizes is a band right now, I am working on our first E.P. It’s important to me to make a group of songs that flow together, until now we just gave away the odd song here and there. I want to make something people will listen to from front to back.

4) Would you like to add anything ?
I also run the record label and blog found at www.doubledenimrecords.com. I have to have many projects otherwise I die.

B) The Playlist

1) Enon – Natural Disasters
Probably my favourite song today.
Probablement mon morceau préféré aujourd’hui.

2) Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Y Control
I forgot about this song until the other day and I had to listen to it about 20 times. So good. Weird video of a cross-dressing batman and a dude kicking in a TV.
J’avais oublié cette chanson jusqu’à ce que l’autre jour je me remette à l’écouter à 20 fois de suite. C’est tellement bon. La vidéo est un mélange curieux de Batman en tutu et d’un mec frappant une télé.

3) Best Coast – When I’m With You
Beautiful fan-video for a beautiful song. So pleased for these guys, we played with them for our first show in May and they have taken off so quickly.
Une superbe vidéo de fan pour une chanson tout aussi belle. Je suis tellement content pour ces gars, nous avons joué avec eux lors de notre 1er concert en mai et depuis leur carrière a pris un décollage fulgurant.

4) Pretty Girls Make Graves – Speakers Push The Air
Since this is turning into a playlist of early 00s music I’m nostalgic for them how about this. I can’t listen to this music anymore it seems so lame but this was the shit back then. Pitchfork gave their E.P. a great review I remember.
Puisque cette sélection prend des allures de playlist début 2000, j’éprouve une certaine nostalgie vis-à-vis de ce groupe : je ne peux plus écouter leur musique tellement ça sonne pas carré mais c’était vraiment le truc en vogue à l’époque. je me souviens que Pitchfork avait donné une super note à leur EP.

5) Kate Bush – The Man With The Child In His Eyes
Kate Bush is so cool. Constantly blows my mind how odd and charming her songs are.
Kate Bush a trop la classe. Je suis à chaque fois bluffé par le côté à la fois étrange et envoûtant de ses chansons.

6) Cass McCombs – You Saved My Life
One of my favourite recent videos and songs. I always imagined making music like this but it never comes out the same.
Une de mes vidéos et chansons récentes préférées. Je me suis toujours imaginé faisant de la musique dans ce style mais je n’ai jamais réussi à sonner comme ça.

7) TEETH – See Spaces
I love TEETH. This song is the shit.
J’adore TEETH. Ce morceau tue tout.

8) Soft Powers – Secrets
Every single Soft Powers song totally fucking rules.
Chaque titre de Soft Power groove à mort.

9) The Cure – A Forest
Great song, amazing video.
Un grand morceau et une vidéo hallucinante.

10) Pepepiano – No Way
This is a nice new unhinged pop song. Playing this in my earphones a lot.
Ca c’est une nouveauté pop complètement démente. J’écoute ça tout le temps dans mon casque.

C) The Interview French Version

1) Comment a démarré Treasure et qui est Prizes ?
J’ai commencé Treasure l’été 2009 en samplant tout ce que je pouvais trouver et en chantant par-dessus. Treasure, c’était moi seul désormais Prizes est un groupe.

2) Pourquoi as-tu changé de nom pour Prizes ?
Il y avait un autre Treasure qui existait depuis plus longtemps que le mien.

3) Quelle est l’actu de Prizes?
Prizes est donc un groupe et je travaille sur notre 1er EP. C’est important pour moi de constituer un ensemble cohérent de titres, jusqu’ici nous avons plutôt sorti des morceaux à droite à gauche. Je veux proposer quelquechose que les gens peuvent écouter de A à Z.

4) As-tu envie d’ajouter quelquechose ?
Je m’occupe aussi du label et blog doubledenimrecords.com et je dois sortir beaucoup de projets si je ne veux pas qu’il meure.
