716 Exclusive Mix – Schemer (Positive Education) : Drive with a Shadow Girl

I discovered the crew Positive Education during a Concrete party in the summer 2015. That day the sound was beating really hard in the great room while on the terrace there was a smooth house dj set, sexy and druggy, but not bitchy, and the set list was pretty eclectic. So I inquired who was playing and I’ve been told “this is a collective of Saint Etienne that makes good stuff.” I went to chat with them, and straight on, I proposed them to do a mix for 716. Between sonic experimentation and avant-garde music, Positive Education, which takes its name from one of my favorite songs of the era of the famous Privilege Club in Paris (1993), conveys an authentic approach, just like the old galleries, the underground landscapes and abandoned industrial buildings, typical from the industrial city Saint Etienne used to be. Positive and Education, their sound can be either positive or dark, but still aims to transmit positive values and thus educate. While the group has just celebrated 4 years of existence by a month of parties with Esplendor Geometrico, June, Photonz, Samuel Kerridge, Beau Wanzer or Kangding Ray, I got this mix from Schemer who appreciates dark atmospheres, I let him present his work. “The ambiance is unpredictable  Far from the beaten paths of the binary techno, he combines synthetizers, industrial textures and rhythms breaks.  The audience is led through a contrasting and confusing soundscape, but that still delivers serious energy shocks. ” Schemer

J’ai découvert le crew Positive Education à la Concrete. Ce jour-là ça tapait vraiment dur dans la grande salle alors que sur la terrasse il y avait un son house bien vu, sexy et druggy ce qu’il faut, mais pas putassier, et surtout les skeuds étaient assez variés. Je me suis donc renseigné : on me dit “c’est un collectif de Saint Etienne qui fait des bons trucs”. Je suis allé papoter avec eux, et hop!, proposition de mix fut lancée. Entre expérimentations sonores et avant-gardisme musical, Positive Education, qui tire son nom d’un de mes morceaux préférés de l’époque du Privilège à Paris (1993), véhicule une démarche authentique, à l’image du paysage d’anciennes galeries souterraines et de bâtiments industriels désaffectés, propre au bassin industriel que fut la région de Saint Etienne. Alors que le collectif vient de fêter des 4 ans d’existence par un mois de fêtes avec Esplendor Geometrico, June, Photonz, Samuel Kerridge, Beau Wanzer ou encore Kangding Ray, j’ai reçu ce mix de Schemer qui apprécie, lui, un son dark, je le laisse présenter son travail : “Le climat est trouble, acide et imprévisible. Loin des sentiers battus de la techno binaire, il combine nappes, textures industrielles et rythmes breakés.
