- Le résumé -

This is the good traditional cuisine restaurant in Sibiu. The waiters are in their costumes and you eat in a cellar, but it’s not a tourist trap, it’s actually some fine gourmets from Sibiu that brought me there.

- Lieu -

Sibiu being a old city in the middle of mountains, lots of restaurants and cafés are in old cellars. This is the case here, the advantage is that it’s nice and warm and intimate. I was there in the middle of winter, you probably don’t want to be underground in the summer as much. I don’t remember if smoking is allowed, but I don’t think so, in any case there wasn’t any smoke, which is a good idea in that kind of space.

- L'équipe -

We had a really nice server, and the entire staff seems to be pretty solid since there’s a photo of them on the site. The server enjoyed giving me advice knowing that I was french and looking for tasty dishes. He recommended some things that my friends who came with me didn’t know. Really nice.

- Le repas -

Wherever you go in eastern Europe there are good national beers, even if in this particular case an important proportion now belongs to international groups.
Here there are two of the best Romanian beers: Ciuc and Silva.

Appetizers
Gustare taraneasca
We can translate as a peasant snack, or a type of traditional tapas: bread covered with cream and pink onions, to serve with peppers, peppers, cheese, etc…A delight.

Along with the dish we took some pickles, I hadn’t understood correctly, I thought it was a side dish. It wasn’t actually, since the dishes are pretty heavy with 90% of the case polenta, you order a plate or raw vegetables to munch on at the same time.                                                                                nions, red peppers ( spicy!) and pickles.

And bam, some little red peppers to add to the mic.

Mains
Tapsa
It’s written with a different ‘s’ but I didn’t find it.
Polenta with cheese, sausages and pastrami.

Pork Ciulama
Pork stew with polenta

Mancare baciului
It was the waiter’s recommendation, and I loved it. My friends were actually envious, I saw more than one envious look 🙂

- Le bilan -

Excellent spot, the music could be considered a bit too much, but since we came in early to eat, it started as we were leaving. In any case, service, food, comfort, everything was good, a great traditional spot.
