55 Jazz Bar – Bucharest (Romania) en

The 55 Jazz Bar opened up in the summer, in 2013. They offer good jazz music in a vibe that I really liked- cozy but mind your manners kind of vibe. There are some nights where they play more electronic, but it’s pretty rare.
It’s located in the old part of Bucharest, and it’s nice to see such a quality place in an area that has so many tourist traps.
Pretty nice staff, I talked with the bartender and he told me that the goal wasn’t to make a lot of money but to create a space with taste where people could come and feel good in, so right up 716’s alley then 🙂
There was a large choice, non-alcoholic beverages ( a tea served in a very original teapot) to alcoholic ones ( warm coconut wine, you drink a lot of warm wine in Romania).
I told the bartender to make me a cocktail he liked.
He made me one that wasn’t on the menu, with vodka, lemon and cucumber juice, needless to say it was rather very strong, but delicious.
There was this cat there, I was told by those that came with me that he was the king of the house: a strayt cat that was taken in by the bar and that became the boss. The story was that on extremely busy nights, people were scrambling for some seating room, and the cat was happy as can be, taking up maximum space.
There are a lot of stray dogs in Bucharest ( I read that it was something like 80 000) but a few people also mentioned stray cats.
Good deal to drink some-good- cocktail in a tasteful atmosphere.
