Le Pot au Lait – Paris (75005) en
31.07.14 - Guillaume - 716lavie
I’d been before, 9 years ago, and it feels like management has changed since then.
“La complète” was really “goutue”, I wasn’t really thrilled with the service, and that’s why I’m not putting it in the 716 list. That being said, it’s worth knowing, and that’s why I’m mentioning it.
It’s not the most charming of places and it’s pretty cold inside.
Thankfully, we were there right at noon, and the number of clients made the temperature rise.
It’s kind of here that it hurt. There were two young ladies in the dining room: one was of foreign origin and very friendly and the other was French, but didn’t smile.
You can tell that the lunch service could be improved, they don’t seem to have their heart in it, and therefore service suffers.
We asked three times to get a water carafe, and the third time, not even a smile to acknowledge the fact that they forgot, the complete opposite, they looked frustrated and when the carafe arrived, there were no glasses with it, more fun to just drink out of the bottle.
I only go to crêpe places at lunch, because at night it gets too expensive for what it is.
However, the hearty lunch table d’hôtes work perfectly for me ( check out the one at 9,50 euros at Little Breizh)
Here it’s 12 euros: I took a “complete” one, a honey one, and a pint of cider.
The “complete” is really nice, just enough filling, with a nice butter taste; maybe a tad bit too much cheese, but that’s if we’re being picky.
Cheers
“Une crêpe au froment.”
However, these crêpes are too thick, and therefore too heavy. That being said, they look nice.
Special mention for their crêpes with lemon, served with a wedge of lemon on the side.
It’s too bad that I wasn’t able to get the honey-lemon one for the price of the honey one, the waitress told me that at lunch, they weren’t allowed to add anything.
All of it was missing a smile, motivation, some lightness!
It’s too bad, especially since all it took was her saying that there was enough lemon with the one that my friend took, anyways.
Still an excellent meal, even the cider that I didn’t know went down well: I didn’t eat anything that afternoon, but I didn’t feel too full either, that’s a sign that the meal was healthy, and made with good ingredients.
I was pretty direct with one of the waitresses, especially since one of them smiled when we left, that being said, a bit more soul was needed, what’s a crêpe without a smile?
I gave you my opinion on the lunch table d’hôte, the à la carte didn’t appeal to me that day, too many crêpe options that made no sense. But this menu at 12 euros is worth knowing.
